Parks and Recreation Department

The Parks and Recreation Department maintains and operates six(6) active parks, areas of undeveloped land, a municipal complex and other natural areas throughout the Township. In addition to the maintenance of parks, buildings and grounds,the Department provides community events, programs and services to enhance the health and livability of Silver Spring Township.

• All of our programs and services are offered to residents and non-residents. The only increase in fees relates to field and pavilion rentals.

Winter Photo Contest - Winner receives $10 credit and exposure   Stay active this winter by visiting your local parks. The winner will be recognized in the Township Newsletter and on the web site. Submit your name, address, age, park facility and date the photo was taken to the Parks and Recreation Deparmtent. You must be a resident of Silver Spring Township. The winner will also recieve a $10 credit toward a program or bus trip held in 2012 (excluding ski/amusement park tickets, rentals and vendor fees).

Deadlines to submit Instructor Proposals:

• Fall (September - December)  Deadline May 1st

Recreation Advisory Council Vacancy    The Council represents the community in providing recommendations for parks and recreation in Silver Spring Township. If you're interested in becoming a member, please submit your interest to the Parks and Recreation Department or call 717.766.1657. Council members must reside in Silver Spring Township. 

DONATING TO PRESERVE, RESTORE AND ENHANCE

Memorial Fundraiser - Veterans Memorial at Willow Mill Park   To buy a brick or a granite plaque in honor of a Veteran of the military contact the Township Administrative Office at 717.766.0178. 

Restoring the Huston Mill - Willow Mill Park   An organized group called the "Friends of Willow Mill" are working diligently to protect, preserve and enhance the Mill, located at 80 Willow Mill Park Road, Mechanicsburg, PA. The campaign has raised $450,000 of the $1.8 million needed for restoration. We are seeking your support and volunteer time as we move forward in "Preserving History - Building Community."
