SUBMIT APPLICATION TO: Silver Spring Township, Attn: (department), 8 Flowers Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 717.766.1696 (fax) OPPORTUNITIES Summer Camp Leader (Recreation Department) - Silver Spring Township is accepting applications for Camp Leaders to work at an 8-Week Summer Camp Program held at Silver Spring Elementary School (Cumberland Valley School District), Monday through Friday starting June 11 and ending August 3, 2012. The position begins with an orientation on Friday, June 8th. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. This is a part-time seasonal position requiring at least 37.5 hours each week. Knowledge of program development, experience working with children and leading programs is desirable. Leaders are responsible for the development and leadership of daily activities including arts and crafts, athletic games, team building exercises and field trips. Proof of current CPR and First Aid certification is required. Leaders must have a satisfactory outcome of several screenings, including a criminal history check, child abuse clearance and reference check. Please complete the above employment application. Fall Intern (Recreation Department) - We are accepting letters of interest and resumes for a fall intern studying Parks and Recreation Management or another related field. The Department manages 180 acres of park land that includes twenty athletic fields of various types, passive recreation opportunities and a variety of programs and special events. The intern receives a stipend of $3000 paid in bi-weekly installments. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with some evenings and weekends. The position will begin at the end of August and last 14 weeks. Responsibilities include assisting the Assistant Director with programs and special events, particularly the annual Willow Mill Fall Festival. Other administrative duties include work with reports, registrations, basic budget overview, cost accounting, marketing and promotion and public relations. Some exposure to park maintenance, planning and development is included. CPR and First Aid certifications are desirable.
