Silver Spring Township, Pennsylvania is seeking a Superintendent of Police with exceptional leadership and management skills to lead a progressive police department of 16 sworn officers and one civilian employee for a growing township in Cumberland County. Silver Spring Township covers approximately 33 square miles with a police service population of 13,000.
Candidate must have served at least ten years in a command position with documented experience managing a modern law enforcement agency including budgeting, planning, and personnel administration. Bachelors Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred. Graduation from the FBI National Academy, or any other senior executive level training program is desirable.
The successful candidate must possess a thorough understanding and appreciation of the principles of Community Oriented Policing along with related experience. Excellent communications skills, and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with citizens and civic leaders are a must.
The candidate must pass both a medical and psychological examination, and drug screening. A thorough background examination will be conducted.
