The Parks and Recreation Department offers five events each year. These include an Egg Hunt, 5K Run/Walk, BBQ & Bluegrass Festival, Fall Festival and a Tree Lighting Ceremony. If you'd like to make a suggestion for new events or changes to our existing events, please email the department. We welcome your ideas and participation.

Don't miss the upcoming PA Police Work Dog Association K9 Triathlon at Willow Mill Park on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 9am - 2pm. Spectators can show up at any time. WILLOW MILL FALL FESTIVAL - October 2
Held at Willow Mill Park from 10 am to 4 pm. The event will feature various food and arts and craft vendors, country and bluegrass music, a BMX Stunt show, lumberjack show, chainsaw carving, line dancing, pony and hay rides, a rock climbing wall, martial arts demonstrations and much more. Additions to the event are still being made.
We are accepting final applications into the second week of September. All interested vendors/entertainers must submit the FESTIVAL VENDOR APPLICATION. You may either mail forms to Silver Spring Township, Attn: Kristy Owens, 6475 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, e-mail kaowens@silverspringtwp-pa.gov or fax us at 717.766.1696.
Volunteer applications can be found on the main page of the web site, under Employment Opportunities. We can use volunteers in the areas of games, decorating and setting-up/tearing-down various activities.
Admission and parking are free. Please be aware that parking is limited to specific areas based on space availability. Permits must be displayed. Effort is being made to improve accessibility at this park, prior to October 2nd.

TREE LIGHTING - December 1
Held at the Township Municipal Complex and Silver Spring Fire Social Hall. The event begins at 6:30 pm. Get your picture taken with Santa, enjoy the spectacle of lights around the Township Complex, snack on cookies and join us for hot cocoa and coffee. Children will enjoy various crafts and earn small gifts while meeting new friends and singing carols around the tree. The lighting begins at 6:30pm.
ENTER TO WIN a horse drawn sleigh ride with Santa! You must be a Silver Spring Resident to enter. The top three drawings will earn a ride. E-mail your name and address to the Parks and Recreation Department.
This event is hosted by Girl Scouts, the Silver Spring Fire Company, New Kingstown Fire Company and the Department of Parks and Recreation for Silver Spring Township.
